Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-30
Ownward builds local-first, privacy-respecting browser extensions. The short version: our extensions do their work entirely on your device and collect nothing. Here's exactly what that means.
Nothing leaves your browser. The extension processes web pages entirely on your device. It does not collect, transmit, or store your browsing data, page content, or any personal information on any server.
What we don't do
- We don't collect or transmit the pages you visit or the data you extract.
- We don't run analytics or track your activity in any way.
- We don't require an account, login, or email address to use the extension.
- We don't sell, share, or monetize your data — there's nothing to sell, because we never have it.
Permissions we use
The extension requests the minimum permissions needed to do its job, and only acts on the page you explicitly choose:
- activeTab & scripting — to read the table or list on the page you explicitly act on. There is no broad, all-websites access.
- storage — to remember your settings and (if you bought Pro) your license key, locally on your device.
- downloads — to save your exported CSV or Excel file to your computer.
License validation (Pro only)
If you purchase Pro, the extension may contact our payment provider Polar to validate your license key. Only the license key is sent — nothing else. This check is optional and infrequent. The free version never makes any network request.
Payments
Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh), acting as our Merchant of Record. Ownward does not see or store your payment details. Please refer to Polar's own privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how the extension handles data, we'll update this page and revise the "last updated" date above. Our commitment won't change: the product is built to collect nothing.
